How and Why this Blog Started

It's hard to believe that it is spring with snow falling on the eve of April Fools' Day tomorrow. I watched the wild turkeys march across the disturbed lot on the street below my house and walk down Laurel Ridge pecking along the roadside. Do they know it will snow tonight and cover their food source again? Suddenly they were gone again, leaving my sight between two houses along Laurel Ridge. I hadn't seen them since last spring when the lot across the street was cleared for building. Soon the lot will be seeded with grass and landscaped in a suburban "suit" around the newly-built house. Will the wild turkeys still stroll through the manicured yard? It made me think how ethereal the seasons, the landscape, and the wildlife can be --and that I should have a record of this growing season as my garden matures during its third "leap" year. Only two seasons ago, it was compacted soil covered with sparse grass struggling to grow. After creating a bed of good soil and compost, now some plants are mature and need division; some plants are gone or have been removed. New plants will be added or moved this season. Insects, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals made the garden their home last year. Let's see what I discover this year in the moments in my garden.
